Arccos Features for Better Fall Golf

Arccos Fall Golf Tips

“Fall golf” can mean a variety of different things depending upon where you live. In the Northern Hemisphere, it is promptly ‘falling’ upon us.

In the Northern U.S, it’s full-on golf sweater weather replete with brisk autumn winds, colorful falling leaves and limited daylight. Lush cool weather grasses flourish, providing a stunning contrast against the season’s traditional yellow, orange and red hues.

In the southern reaches of the States, the fall is an opportunity to play 18 holes comfortably as high temps drop from the 90s and 100s to the 70s and 80s. By November, many courses will feature dormant Bermuda while others will sport a rye grass overseed.

For Northern European golfers, it’s time to start planning that golf holiday to Spain or Portugal. While in the U.K. … well, it’s anyone’s guess.

No matter which hemisphere you call home, a bevy of Arccos Caddie features are available to help maximize game improvement during this time of year. (Except, we all know we are jealous of the Aussies rolling into summertime right now…)

Arccos Caddie A.I. Powered Rangefinder

If there’s one common theme across regions, it’s falling temperatures. In some areas, the average high temperature will drop 20 degrees between the beginning of October and November. (*Cue the Turkey Trot Golf Tournaments across the US*)

The effect on the golf ball and subsequently, shot-distance, is formidable. Cold air is denser than warm air and creates additional drag on the ball. According to various industry studies, the difference is about one yard of carry per 10-degree drop.

This is where Arccos Caddie’s artificial intelligence-powered GPS rangefinder comes into play. Seamlessly integrated into the Arccos Caddie App, it factors in real-time conditions like temperature, wind, humidity, slope and altitude to give players the “Arccos Caddie Number,” the most precise yardage in the game.

Arccos Caddie Distance from Last Shot

While it wasn’t necessarily designed to help Arccos players find wayward tee shots on the course, the Arccos Caddie App’s “distance from last shot” feature has emerged as a savior of many golf balls.

In fact, it’s useful not only tee shots, but any shot that strays from the fairway in the fall. Between fallen leaves and towering cool weather grass rough, balls that are off-line even a few yards can be nearly impossible to find.

Why, and how does it work?

Let’s say your “Smart Distance” is 225 yards with your driver and your “Smart Range” is 210 to 235 yards, “Distance from Last Shot” will allow you to create a manageable search grid for locating your ball in a reasonable amount of time.

To access it, simply toggle to the satellite image overview of the hole from the Rangefinder (distances to the green and pin) screen. You’ll see a pulsing dot marking the location of your previous shot and the “Distance from Last Shot” yardage overlaid with your current location.

Arccos Caddie Strokes Gained Analytics

For many Arccos players, fall is a time for ramping up total rounds played. Despite the waning daylight, golfers in northern regions are trying to play as much as they can before winter. In southern regions, they’re delighting in perfect golf weather minus the oppressive humidity.

Either way, the Arccos Caddie App collects invaluable on-course performance data to accelerate seasonally adjusted game improvement. The new Arccos Caddie Strokes Gained Analytics feature lets players compare every facet of their game to 26 different handicaps ranging from Tour player to 20.

This personal info can be used to make game adjustments. For example, we all lose distance due to cooler weather, don’t let it affect your game, try to focus on short game enhancements, like chipping and putting (that are less impacted by the cold).
